Our Lady of Guadalupe Novena --Day Two

Novena Prayer: Day Two

O Mary, conceived without sin, I come to your throne of grace to share the fervent devotion of your faithful Mexican children who call to you under the glorious Aztec title of Guadalupe. Obtain for me a lively faith to do your Son’s holy will always: May His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be...

In the image on the cloak, Our Lady is shown standing on a half moon which represents the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl, often represented as a plumed serpent. The word "Guadalupe", which the Mexican people gave to Our Lady is said to be the Nahuatl word, Coatlaxopeh, which means "the one who stepped on (or treaded or trampled) the serpent".

There is also direct symbolism from Genesis 3:15, which says, "And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; She shall crush your head, and you shall bruise his heel."

Our Lady of Guadalupe, Pray for us!
