Our Lady of Guadalupe is a favorite devotion for those who have strong pro-life convictions. The black sash tied around her waist is symbolic in the Native Mexican culture of pregnancy. The pink dress is embellished with gold flowers. In Nahuatl, the 8 petaled flowers represent mountains. The only flower that has four petals rests on her abdomen (directly below the sash). This four petaled flower symbolizes life and movement.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
