It's been said that haiku is an form to get the basics of, but extremely difficult to master. It certainly calls for poignancy with extreme brevity--and brevity is not my strong point! :-)
I meant to say that "It's been said that haiku is an EASY form to get the hang of..."
I remember doing haikus in elementary school--teachers seem to love having their students do them. Maybe they would help me learn to say things in fewer words.
Loved it then. Love it now. Great way to begin a crisp Fall morning.

My haiku almost never follow the 5-7-5 format. That would be a good discipline for me to cultivate, I think!
