Happy Birthday, Rebecca!

My niece is 23 years old today. I remember my sister taking long walks around her neighborhood to try to bring on labor. It worked.

My sister changed her mind on a name after my niece was born. She went from Emily Rebecca pre-natally to Rebecca Noel. I kept calling her Emily by mistake.

At 23, she's been out of college, working and living on her own for a year, and plans to go to law school.

We're proud of you, Rebecca!

Today's birthdays

Today, Leonard Nimoy, aka Mr. Spock in the original Star Trek, turns 77 and Vicki Lawrence, of the Carol Burnett show, turns 59.

Here's her 1973 number one hit (her only hit) "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia." Still the definitive version, IMO.

As for Nimoy, the YouTube didn't allow embedding of this video, but it is worth clicking and watching. Nimoy explains here: Judaism in Star Trek. Fascinating.

Happy Birthday!

Birthday wishes go out today to Kevin Rhodes, Bishop of Harrisburg.

He turns 50 today.

(Yes, he is young for a bishop.)

Happy Birthday

This goes out to dear ds, who will be 19 tomorrow at 5:10pm. Nineteen years ago tonight, he attended the first of many of his dad's concerts, albeit in utero , at Fort Meade in Maryland with his 6 month old cousin, Barbara. He apparently liked what he heard, because by the next evening he was greeting the world.

Happy Birthday, Craig!!!!!!!!
