In honor of St. Patrick's Day, here is an adorable cartoon on St. Patrick. The story is told by a little girl named Mary and the award winning animation includes something near and dear to my heart--a VW bus. Hence, the St. Patrick's Day Volkswagen.
I'll admit we did not have luck with our vanagon in the long run. But, it did serve us well while it was working, lol! (The engines are expensive to replace in those things!) We had many a long drive in it with ds when he was a baby.
This was adorable. Of course the VW reminded me of the "good old days," especially your DH. I don't think I ever drove in the van, but I definitely remember it and the stories of you driving it while he was fixing something. Too funny.
That was a charming video. As far as the VW bus goes, in the mid 1970s a friend had one. We were taking a drive up the scenic Highway 1 in California and something really big in the engine broke. I admired him so much. He took the whole engine apart, replaced the bad piece, and the next day on we went. In the late 60s I had a forest green VW beetle that broke down all the time.
Nice we used to have an '89 VW Vanagon. We ran it to 200k miles. It was a good vehicle.

ReplyDeleteYou never drove in it?! Oh, man! You missed out! Kamper was the only heat available. Good times.

ReplyDeleteI agree, you need to know how to fix (old) VWs if you own one. My dh had a green '66 bus when I met him. He drives a '72 bug as his daily driver now.
