I visited Byzantine Ramblings this morning and heard this Psalm (140). It is such a heart felt prayer.
O Lord, I have cried out unto Thee.
Hear Thou me.
Hear Thou me O Lord.
Give ear to the voice of my supplication.
When I cry out unto Thee, hear Thou me O Lord.
Let my prayer be sent forth before Thee as the incense
and the lifting up of my hands
as the evening sacrifice.

Nice prayer. I think we've all "been there," before when the only strength we have left is to say, "Hear me, Lord." It's a complete turning over and letting go.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I have a few CDs of the Byzantine liturgies chanted in Church Slavonic. It is so beautiful. I think the Eastern chants are very close to what was sung in the early Church, although the Latin rite chants also arise from the synagogue.
ReplyDeleteIt really is beautiful, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHauntingly beautiful if I do say so. Thanks for sharing it! I have found myself moved to Russian Choral music, from the Gregorian Chants. This is right "in there" too.
