May Crowning

May is the month traditionally set aside to remember Mary, the Mother of God. A practice that is coming back (thankfully) is the May Crowning, when traditional Marian hymns are sung and a crown of spring flowers is placed on a statue of Mary.

O Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today,
Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May,
O Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today,
Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May.

Hat tip to Fr. Loren Gonzales of Overheard in the Sacristy.
