sounds like detachment which mystics of all religions speak about. You can do this if you realize that things aren't what they seem. There is meta reality above the material reality. I have been reading lately that we can pray or meditate on an intention but not get caught up in controlling what the result will be. I agree with Sr Mary Marthas blog comments that say if we intend to offer up suffering, be sneaky about it like the saints. Don't offer up suffering when another party is involved and perhaps we should not impose suffering on them or ourelves but releave it. But, there is a higher reality. God is in everything and He is always love. So we can always be happy if we are trained and prepared to have a certain insight about things.
I was thinking the same thing, MK. That its about detachment. For Christians, the meta reality is Heaven and God, of course. And the communion of saints.
Not getting caught up in an end result of our prayers is hard! But it is necessary.
I think the result is that detachment you talked about. And happiness.
I have another angle on this on today's blog.
ReplyDeleteOooo! I'll be right over!!!
