Fish Eaters

The site Fish Eaters has an interesting Fun Stuff page. One that I tried is "Saints and Their Symbols" matching game. I got 70% on the first try.

They also have an interesting list of Catholic Movies. How many have you seen?

The Ten Commandments (1956)*
Jesus of Nazareth (1977)*
The Passion of The Christ (2004)*
Spartacus (1960)
Quo Vadis? (1951)
Becket (1964)
Joan of Arc (1948)
The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928)
A Man for All Seasons (1966)*
The Song of Bernadette (1943)*
Thérèse (1986)
The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima (1952)
The Exorcist (1973)
The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005)

Their other list is of "films with a Catholic sense of the world".

Meet John Doe (1941)
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)*
I Confess (1953)
Angels with Dirty Faces (1938)
The Dead (1987)
On the Waterfront (1954)

The starred movies are the ones I have seen. I don't think I could ever bring myself to watch either Exorcism movies. I really liked The 10 Commandments, Jesus of Nazareth & The Passion of the Christ. Definately worth renting/buying.

  3. It was a hard quiz, that's for sure! The only reason I knew St. Rita was because that is my current parish. I was a bit surprised that St. Therese wasn't on there. Also, I thought the one holding the roses or however they said it would be Juan Diego, but it wasn't.

  5. I loved the exorcist. I do love movies that have new and interesting stuff about the Catholic faith. It is a good stepping ground for me to expand and learn more.

It was very violent, scary and not a pretty site...so I understand why alot of people won't watch it. There is also a book about it. Which is very thought provoking too.

  6. dilettantus in interrete, I personally don't know Don Camillo, but with my my movie watching track record, I wouldn't take that as necessarily meaning that the movies are not known in the states...

Jennifer, Yeah, I'm one of the ones who would rather not watch them. I'll just skip right to believing that such things exist and leave it at that!
