The Vatican has called for a boycott of The DaVinci Code film. From what I hear about it, that's a no-brainer.
Catholic World News reports that "The secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has called for a boycott of the film version of The Da Vinci Code, saying that the work is "full of calumnies, offenses, and historical and theological errors."
Not being much of a movie-goer, I wasn't planning on going anyway, but as I said, to me, this is a no-brainer for Catholics.
For more information on the errors in The DaVinci Code, see the Catholic Answers Special Report.

The Lord has promised that Satan will never prevail against the Church - that's all I need to know. I'm happy where I am, and for that matter, I'm glad we're boycotting the D-Code.
ReplyDeleteI'm struck by just how many people forget that book is filed in the FICTION section of the library :).
Peace and Love,
Charley

Sorry, Seven. You are wrong. Christianity has been passed down for 2 centuries, both in oral and in written form. There have been no "secrets"; no secret knowledge known only to a few. That is gnosticism, and gnosticism is wrong.
ReplyDeleteCharley, you are exactly correct. Jesus promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against His Church. It is surprising the fiction that some people will believe. Just look at Scientology.
